BEING PRESENTABLE
Little girls are better than little boys and must act the part. Nothing is worse than a girl who refuses to be ladylike. Therefore, we must be cuter or prettier in our appearance, better-behaved and more attractive in how we act, showing that we are, above all, not trollopy, uncivil or proud and more refined in our speech.
DRESS:
Nothing shows us off better than skirts and dresses
- We are to wear skirts, dresses or that kind of thing
- To show that we are not proud, Little Girls' skirsts should be above the knee and full; for obvious reasons: They are cuter and have better shape to them for Little Girls' bodies and make them more attractive
- A little girl or youg girl ought to ask a grownup lady that she knows well, preferably Mama, an Aunt or , in a girls' home, Housemistress how to dress and even what to wear.
- Wear your hair in such a way as to be attractive yet not trollopy. We require our girls to wear it to atlest the shoulders and down with fringes in front if that is possible
HOW TO ACT:
- Learn to curtsey
- Smile
- Stand straight and do not sluch
- Keep your hands either at your sides lightly touching your skirts or in front of you, or, if sitting, on your lap or at your sides or in any position that does not look like you are trying to take something unless you are told to do otherwise
- When presenting yourself to a grownup lady or older girl, offer your right hand to be taken by the other
- Do as you are told by grownup ladies and older girls
SPEECH:
You are to speak in a refined and ladylike manner. this means;
- Speak in a soft but clear voice and say your words clearly
- Never Shout, it makes your voice sound shrill and harsh
- Speak in complete sentences
- Avoid contractions. Say "I am" instead of "I'm", "You are' instead of "You're", "did not" or "can not" instead of 'didn't" or 'can't" and that kind of thing.
- Instead of "yup", 'yeah" or "un-huh", say "yes" and "no" instead of "nope", "nah" or "uh-uh".
- Avoid slang or as they used to say "smart talk"
- When asking for something say "Please [and the preson's name or 'My Lady'], may I" and finsish your request and if it is granted end with 'Thank you [the preson's name or 'My Lady']."
- Do not use nicknames or shortened names; our names are prett and cute for a reasons 'Avoid things like "Chris" or 'Chrissie" for "Christine", "Sandie" or "Cassie" for "Sandra" and "Cassandra" and things like that
- Avoid acting loud or boysterous!!
