We give our total approval to RUFFLES & RIBBONS GIRLS' HOME for meeting the crieria of ABUSE

We feel it is wrong to hit littl girls and are opposed to the doing of such. This idea is not new as being hit coarsens the little girl and it is not feminine at all. However, we are not maudlin sob sisters and feel that there must be some form of physical chastizement administered for wrongdoing and for unladylike behavior.

Unlike other organizations we applaud the use of physical chastizement for behavior that, while not exactly "wrong" is simply inappropriate to being ladylike so we do place extra requirements upon girls. We feel that this is justified to keep them from becoming coarsened due to lack of training.

This is not a new idea and goes back to the late 1800's and we were founded some 30 years thereafter. We think that if girls are to grow up to be feminine and demure, and they should if they are to be attractive to anyone, then it is unfair to subject them to the hardening kinds of chastizement that is suitable for boys, from whom they are different in the first place. The code of acceptible chastizements for ABUSE is:

1. The chastizement is to be non-injurious; even if administered at severe levels
2. The Chastizement is to be proven effective
3. the Chastizement is to be readily accessible so as not to be hard to do> It helps if administering it is an enjoyable task
4. The Chastizement shall be felt on the body in an unpleasant way
5. The Chastizement is to be uniquely feminine
6. the Chastizement is to be adjustible so that it can be administered in different amounts, ways and degress
