RUFFLES & RIBBONS GIRLS' HOME

^^^^ upgrade from ^^^^-: Nov 23, 2013

UPDATE: This upgrade was brought about by getting a private, dedicated forum at Daily Diapers which has the functions of a subforum and lets us now do polls as well as giving you a good reason to join which gives you a gallery, blogs and other things. KEEP THEM ON TOPIC!

I think I am qualified to rate my own site since I know what I wanted' full social networking, and what I ended up with; a mixed bag, and how I used my resources and tools. More than once I was asked how to get here by those under the impression that it was a real, physical place that was actually somehwere. Those were my proudest and most embarrassing momentsTo umderstamd the rating that RUFFLES & RIBBONS GIRLS HOME gets. you must start with a bit of historya;

It goes back over a decade to 1999. I first created it at FriendPages and as it grew, put in some parts at MSN-Talk City, where from the visitors, it recieved the highest ratings in both Quality and Traffic and only moved in its entirety to Talk City when FriendPages got uptight about having adult content. In its earliest days, it was knwon as LITTLE CHRISTINE'S PLAYHOUSE AND RUBBER NURSERY. It was built around a real person: A Transgenered ALG. As it grew to take in more than just a Little Girl's rubber nursery and started to include "grounds" and other persons and interests, like dolls, It went from a playhouse and nursery to a home. and became the RUFFLES & RIBBONS GIRLS' HOME and expanded to include Bellet, "Little Miss" Pageant and Fairy. Them empnasis was very much on our "special material" generally called "rubber" with Christine as our little rubber girl much as she is now. In its first years, RUFFLES & RIBBONS GIRLS' HOME was the reference nursery for Wetville at Bytemine becuase of its use and expertise with rubber diapers put UNDER the cloth ones and chastizement, and its relationship to Fairy and tiaras. Fairies were and are presented here as full-sized perosn without the usual wings and the other silly things. At least once "Aunt Julia" mentioned "checking at the nursery" about putting rubber under one of her girls' diapers. Another site, Th ORPANAGE influenced it. One of the images at that site was a bed with a pink rubber sheet on which the person slept directly and was tied to. We wanted something more feminine but with the same idea. Also, we were stricly for girls and eschewed scat, bondage (in favor of restricted movement) and S/M. Most of these kinds of places in real life in our timeframe were run by nuns, but we wanted something toally secular

In all those years there have been only five negative comments and one of those was bogus from a troublemaker. Another was from a rather conceited social network owner and is dexribed in the Diaper Times/censorship page. Most Little Girls who visit here call it a "pretty" or "lovely" site

Whereas most sites deal in stories and photos. RUFFLES & RIBBONS GIRLS' HMOE becuame a place to go . At that time. interactive meant a forum called a "bulletin boeard" guestbook and polls and that is what we had as well as the usual links

RUFFLES & RIBBONS GIRLS' HOME remianed at Talk City until they went out of the webhosting business in c 2005, While there it was in the upper 40% ratings in Personal pages at DPF. It served as the focal point of a Yahoo Group with about 900 members. After the end of TC I was offered space on a domain owned by one "Frost Elf", a then 23 year old girl who said "...the content is unstoppable." but declined as I wished to retain control of this site. It was hurriedly rebuilt at GeoCities and was in the process of being properly edited when Yahoo decided to remove the adult content, esepceoally ABLG from its adult content section (Yes, I know; "go figure"). However the site rmained open after the creation account had been deleted until GeoCities free ceased to exist in 2009. In May of 2010, it moved to its present host and in 2011 got a new domain name. The only difference between 2003 and now is that RUFFLES & RIBBONS GIRS' HOME has been edited for typgraphical errors, has many more images and photographs, is better organized and there is more of wahat made it a landmark for those in the know in the Adult Baby/Diapered Little Girl world.

Most ABDL sites are pretty straightforward, images, stories and a forum and guestbook are the order of the day. If we were going to earn our keep, we had to be unique and make our place a "destination". I wanted a place where persons could do things and was one of the first to use polls and surveys to focus vistors' minds on the subjects of interext. Over time the type of participation has changed. In the early days, a site could be supported by a forum, guestbook and a Yahoo group. Also poll hosts were not so finicky about adult material. Now forums are pretty much out of the question and poll hosts are picky, besides which I wanted something more. I developed Graphic Arts As more "mainstream" forms of interactivity became unavailable, I improvised as best I could as I became more skilled. However, this is not a pay or ad supported site. The only way I could replace the Yahooo Groups site would be with a $300 to start social network and $50/mo upkeep. I also developed SandraLyn as a kind of framework to define and implement the ideas to make this a destination for Little Girls and those associated with them: Mommies, stepmothers, nannies governesses, babyminders, nurses, teachers and rubber nurses as I envisioned them in a sort of Second Life-like framework. This meant that activities are done at an appropriate place and that nearly all the links are images. We also grew in the things we could offer. We developed a Girls' School and a shopping plaza. We have the frmaework in place for publishing. WE also encourge members to add their own things to the things already part of the Graphic Arts like bookmarkers, stikers and notepaper/stationery

Our framework is flexible enough to add new things and we are always on the prowl for more things to add that strengthen our participation options

Since we cannot afford the full social network. I designed a "distributed" one. We use categorized contact lists. Also we encourage and provide the tools for building a website that can cross-link with us. In keeping with the "second life" idea we put the various links in appropriate places. Links to the "member" sites would be in the "building"'s that house these kinds of persons. We also put together a Yahoo style group of sorts in the form of "LittleGirlLand" that lets you publish articles, display images/photos, display videos and create special-topic subgroupps

AS a "second life" place there is a strong component of role playing. fantasy and reality. The reality is the setting and the fact that what we describe was actrually done and the fantasy is that we "put it on steroids"; having a special vocaulary to describe delicate matters in a ladylike way, and a "rubber nursery". RUFFLES & RIBBONS GIRLS' HOME is a specialized (focused) boutique site. As such, it is not for everyone. But then I do not want it to be. I do not want the usual lighter-than-airheaded 20-nothings that clog up Daily Diapers or the creeps and mondo bizarro that is so much a part of "alt lifesyle" and the whole Daddy/Little Boy scene. I wnat a place that reflects a real person and does a few things well rather than doing many things generically

As for the rating of a "downgrade" four tiaras. We have not fully implemented social network to the extent that others have. I cannot offer you the 10-12 megabytes of space as I would like to. I cannot yet offer you a "yourname@SandraLyn.net or the like. I do not know how and besides you can do better using webmail that lets you chat and connect, which is more versatile than a simple vanity email address, but some would like the latter. Also I cannot do polls. This last is the only thing that keeps us from having our own full-function social network. All of this does mean more work for those who want to stay and play as well as us.

On the other hand. We look out for privacy and security like a hawk and give you advice on how to do the same up to the level of the most paranoid newbie. We are not subject to the crashes that plague social networks and loss of data because you take care of your own. We offer shopping, a school and other things that would be part of a well-run home for little girls in real life. We provide a place to submit video pages, articles, blogs and the like. We have clubs and a main club. We also have the most feminine place on the Web with diapers and rubber and a "framework" around which to build your Little Girl world. And we keep it little and girl. We boast about being "pink and blonde" Along with special clubs and a main club, we enable you to set up sub-groups about your Little Girl interests. We give you real take-away itmes like stickers, bookmarks to make, fonts, a desktop theme, screensavers and wallpapers, and even a working calculator along with a massive software kit and profile page kits and resource lists. The up side to being a niche place is that we can easily cater to the initerested and we can be more like a family. One big thing in our favor is that RUFFLES & RIBBONS GIRLS HOME was built around a real person who has real traits and characteristics, not some generic or composite or make up of different, unrelated characteristics

So what you have here is a 3-tiara implementation of a 5-tiara idea with four tiaras worth of "intagebles": Time, place, persons and setting that can be as "bright" or "dark" for you as you make it; you hear both giggling and crying, that is not slick but "real people" and it is all free and no bothersome ads or pop-ups
