BEDSPREAD & PILLOW SHAM
With Adaptation for the Bed Smelly

A rubber bedspread is such a wonderful thing in a Little Girl's room even if she is not a Rubber Littl Girl
  • It is easy to care for
  • They can be made in scrumptously feminine colors
  • If the Litle Girl likes to feel the material with her hands, it can be just paradise to lay on her bed and feel

If the Little Girl is a Rubber Ruffles Girl then:

  • It is a wonderful part of a rubber nursery that you can show off to embarrass her
  • You can change her right on it without having to bother with a changing pad
  • It is rubber and if you are not too carful changing her, it may get smelly (too bad :giggl:)
  • If it gets smelly then people know what kind of Little Girl you have: Ritght?

So Mommy, Mistress, Stepmother gets it all her own way and Little Girl gets none of heres

This can be made to fit either a twin or full size bed. for the twin, use material that is 51x72 and for a full-size bed, 51x90. You will want three of each. also, you will want some thin quilted padded materil.

    TO MAKE

    1. Attach two pieces together sucurely in an overlap seam so that the item is about 90 by whatever width you have chosen 72 for a twin and 90 for a full. Be sure that the seam ends are thorougly secured and they do not disattacb.
    2. Dye the thrid piece whatever color you want, We suggest some kind of pink or fuscia (it will apprear pink against the what quilted padding.
    3. cut the padding so that it will cover just the top of the bed.
    4. using a spray color, preverably white, unless you like the semi-clear color, do the body of the spread so that where the padding will not be will be whatever color you choose, Pink on what is a scrumptiously little-girl set of colors.
    5. Lay the colored piece down and the padding over it. fold the ends and sides of the colored piece over the quilting to fit and glue in place
    6. Lay the material on the body of the spread with the quilted side down so that the sides are equal but it is a bit closer to the head of the bed than the foot. and attach to the body.

    TO USE

You can use it like an ordinary spread or you can tuck the extra material at the top under the quilting so that the rubber bedding peeks through, If you have a "comforter" with a pretty design such as flowers, you may want to have that show

You can make the optional pillow sham by dying a piece of material the same color as the spread top ad putting it on the pillow

A bed skirt of a sort can be made by taking two more pices of material the same size as the spread materil and deying them the same color and putting them under the matterss and letting them drape over the sides and end.

MODIFICATIONS YOU MAY WISH TO MAKE

The pictures below illustrate the underside of the spread forr two special modifications you may wish to make: FOLD UNDER RETAINERS and a BED SMELLY POCKET. The lines mark the part where the padding begins.

    FOLD UNDER RETAINERS:

Many mommies or mistresses fold the top of the spread under at the place where the padding begins to let some of the Little Girl's other bedlinens show. to show that they ar also rubber or the nice babyish or Fairyish desing on the "comforter" (or is that discomforter?), You can make something to keep this folding in place but also let it go if you wish to have the rubber bedspread pull up to the top.

To Make, Using the picture below as a guide, follow these steps.

    1. Cut two pieces of each kind of velcro
    2. Attach the scratchy pieces to the top corners
    3. Using the black line as a guide fold the top of the spread so that when the bed is made, the top will be folded under the spread
    4. Attach the furry pieces where the scratchy ones will meet the spread
    5. When you fold the top under, fasten the fasteners and it will stay in place

      THE BED SMELLY POCKET

Many stepmothers and rubber nurses use the BED SMELLY to remind the Little Girl of how important wetting is in her little world. However they do not like the incovenience of always needing to adjust or do things with it and having to either wash their hands or wear rubber gloves. For them we created the bed smelly pocket to attach to the underside of the bedspread.

      To Make
get a piece of material that when folded as in the picture below, will fit in the part of the bedspread within the padded area

Fold as shown and attach at the corners where all edges join. To Attach
      1. Lay out the spread with the underside, represented by the outline, up
      2. Lay the pocket on it with the folded edges on underside of the spread to form a kind of envelop. The wide flap should be at the head. This is so Babygirl will not be able to reach in and feel the bed smelly which is made of cloth
      3. Using the black lines on the picture below, glue all the flaps BUT THE TOP in place: Glue towards the middle of the underside of each fold between the fold and its edge and do the same with the bottom. this will attach it but leave it so that there is some "play" to put things in. This should form a loose pocket
      4. Glue the corners down
      5. Let dry thoroughly. It should look like the pcture below

To Use Simply fold the bed smelly to fit and incert it into the pocket. then fold the top flap over it so that when Babygirl reaches in to feel the cloth, she will only feel more rubber.

      PILLOW SHAM

This is how the finished sham will look from the underside

A pillow sham adds that special touch of completeness which marks any bedroom as well designed and decorated. Well you want the same with your Little Girl's rubber nursery so that persons will know that her little rubber world is complete

      TO MAKE:

      1. Start with a piece of material that matches the main part of the bedspread, In this case the dark pink part
      2. You want it to be about 18 inches longer and about a foot wider than the pillo
      3. Cut two of each kind of velcro >li>Get another piece of material that is as long as 2/3 tto 3/4 the way around the pillw
      4. Attach it as shown in the picture near the top
      5. To the free end attach the two furry pieces of velcro as shown
      6. place the pillw in the sam and bring the strap around and where it meets the sham body, attach the two scratchy pieces so that when you join them, there will be a loop like a belt loop. You can either slide the pillow in and out or undo this strap and re'attach it to put the pillos in
There is another way to do this. We found a metallic rose colored satin spread that fit Christine's bed and a matching pillow cover. Since we were not about to let Christine feel any cloth, we got some rubber and attached it to the inside. For the outsie, we got some perlescent transparent pink rubber and put it on the spread and pillow. This makes it look more pink and adds pearlescence to the metalic satin. We simply put it over her other spread and use that for a comforter

      What do you think?
